With the sun shining and the school year drawing to a close, at ASK we’re gearing up for Summer Camp and can’t wait to welcome this year’s children. Our 8th annual Summer Camp will take place at Collège du Léman in Versoix for four weeks from 21st July. To grab one of the few remaining spaces for your child please register here.
In 2007, when we first created Summer Camp, it fulfilled a long-held dream of mine whereby children of all abilities would have the opportunity to enjoy a summer programme regardless of their differences. Since then, we have welcomed children aged between 5 and 20 with dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autistic spectrum disorder, Down’s Syndrome, selective mutism, anxiety disorders and physical disabilities, amongst others, to enjoy four weeks of summer fun, learning through play and creative activities.
For those children with social skills challenges, studies have shown that the ability to play is an important skill, fundamental for establishing relationships with family and peers. A critical component of our Summer Camp is to pay special attention to the individual needs of each child, fostering self-confidence and giving children the opportunity to learn to play and make friends without undue pressure.
When the long summer nights begin to draw to a close, our minds will inevitably start to turn to the new school year. ASK is committed to keeping our office open over the summer, assisting you and offering support and solutions. So remember, just ASK… we’re here to help.
