First Annual Family Picnic
“Welcome!” exclaimed Joy Tong, ASK Founder and CEO, to the 90 parents & children as they arrived at the Ferme de Saint-Maurice on Sunday, September 20th, for the 1st Annual Friends of ASK Family Picnic under thankfully 😊 sunny skies.
The occasion marked the launch of “Friends of ASK”, which Board Chairman, Alan Mudie, describes as “a community to bring together all supporters who appreciate the good work of ASK and wish to contribute to its funding backbone through annual membership dues.”
ASK Events Committee Chairman, John McCarthy, a local resident, rented the Ferme for the day – a spacious park and former dairy – located next to the hamlet of St. Maurice in the Commune of Collonge-Bellerive. We all enjoyed the park and the spectacular view of Lac Léman and the Jura mountains.
Pamela Cloutier, ASK Board and Events Committee member, organized games for over 40 children – badminton, pétanque, croquet, tugs-of-war, potato sack & 3-legged races – which were managed by experienced ASK Summer Camp counselors while parents relaxed and socialized at the picnic tables.
Meanwhile, BBQ Chef Peter Cloutier prepared the guests’ picnic meal meats and veggies on the farm’s large charcoal grill.
Board Member, David Ogden and wife, Dede, from the Events Committee formed a dedicated team throughout the afternoon, proposing soft drinks and a choice of wines and “moût de raisin” from the local Cave de Genève.
Congratulations to Event Manager, Lucy Irwin, and fellow Event Committee members, Nadine Nuwayhid and Renata Cavalli Pessa, and their very generous and enthusiastic team of volunteers who ensured the smooth running of the Picnic from set-up in the morning to clean-up in the late afternoon.
Thank you all, for your participation and contributions to an incredibly special & fun day.
