Our 3 week Bilingual Summer Camp finished on July 28th and was another huge success, with over 90 children enjoying a range of fun activities such as SmartFit, Airloop, Geneve Plage, Paddle boarding, Chocotour, Sailing and many more. We are grateful for the warm welcome of these organizations.  The ACCESS Club explored Geneva and neighboring Swiss towns, with some of their favorite activities being bowling, Natural history museum , Servion Zoo, YatouSplash, Swiss Vapour Park and Mini golf and pool, Our team recommends all of these organizations as places to visit and enjoy. We found the staff very welcoming to our children and young adults. We all felt very accepted and included.    Our team will be taking some well earned vacation time but we are all looking forward to the year ahead. Social Skills starting on Sept 5th

Our first Coffee with Experts will take place on Sept 28th. Topic: Settling Back to School with Dr. Lorna Barry. We are excited for the year ahead. Our ACCESS interns will join the local Police Department on September 15th to help organise and plan for Journée de la Police on September 16th. This experience will give our interns an insight into the daily activities undertaken by the Police. There is a lot of excitement at the office in preparation for this event.. We have some opportunities for volunteers to be a part of our team. Join us here.   We love fashion! We have an amazing experience for our social skills groups and ACCESS interns this September. The team from Ralph Lauren are delivering specialized workshops in fashion design to our children and adults. We look forward to sharing their creations in our next newsletter.   Social Skills starting on Sept 5th   We are now running social skills sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. Then list the groups Preschool starts 3:00-4:00 on September 5th School Aged Group 4:30-6:00 on September 4th and 5th Connect Club 4:30-6:00 on September 14th.   Children with ADHD may have difficulties with integrating within the school environment. Some children have challenges with focus during class time, making/keeping friends, behavior regulation, amongst other difficulties. We are thrilled to have the support of Foundation TDHA in-sight to expand on our PBS program which focuses on the meaningful inclusion of children experiencing such difficulties. Within this program, we offer training for teaching teams on integrating children with ADHD into the classroom. We also offer individual integration plans for children who would benefit from more personalised plans to support their inclusion. Ralph Lauren Collaboration, La nuit du Bien Commun and Best Buddies International!

We love fashion! Our social skills groups and ACCESS interns experienced fun and creative fashion design workshops with the team from Ralph Lauren.  Genève pour le Bien Commun was a great success! Thank you to our donors and supporters for making this evening possible and memorable. ASK was amongst 9 organisations last Monday evening to benefit from the support of our community. We invite you to learn more about the other organisations:  Cuisine Lab, Enfants du Parc, Hôpiclowns, Lire et Faire Lire – Suisse, Relais Enfants Parents Romands, SOS Future Mamans, Suspend’us, Zoe4Life.   Our ACCESS intern joined the local Police Department on September 15th to help organise and plan for Journée de la Police . We are delighted to let you know that our next Coffee with Experts will be on October 19th (12:00-13:30). We will be joined by the counseling team from Webster to talk about parent self-care. Sensory Holiday! Save the date for December 12th, 16:30-18:30. Toddlers and School aged children.

Many children with autism and/or ADHD can connect information from the environment in different ways. Sometimes the processing of this information can become overwhelming. We are creating a sensory holiday experience for children with differential learning abilities to join in the festivities of the season. We are hoping to create a fun and calming space for children for our end of term party. Save the date for December 12th, 16:30-18:30. Toddlers and School aged children. Free online training workshops for teachers and other professionals

ASK is delighted to announce two free online training workshops for teachers and other professionals on Positive Behavior Support with Dr. Deirdre Kearney. Dr. Kearney is a Chartered Psychologist with over 22 years of clinical practice supporting children, adolescents and adults who experience difficulties. Deirdre has expertise in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism and complex behavioral presentations. Both workshops will provide opportunities for questions. Registration links will be available in our December newsletter. The first workshop will introduce the framework of positive behavior support and explores how this can be used to effectively support students in classroom environments. It will also introduce whole school approaches to supporting student wellbeing and skill development.  The second workshop will explore specific applications of PBS to support students with ADHD and ASD, as well as other specific support needs. Welcome 2024! Some of our events planned for next year

Our ASK Elves created a sensory holiday party for children with different learning abilities on December 12th. We had such a fun time with our winter games, dance and karaoke, arts and crafts, sensory quiet room and Santa’s snacks and presents. We extend our appreciation for all of the children, siblings and parents who attended- it certainly left everyone in the festive spirit! Our ASK Team completed Basic Life Support and Automated External DefibrillationGeneric Provider as recognised by the Swiss Resuscitation Council with HealthFirst Sàrl this month. Please join our ASK Parent Community by becoming a parent member. We are also looking for parent volunteers to join our parent support committee. We would like to have more involvement from parents to help us to develop our outreach events, coffee mornings and parent 2 parent support networks. Please contact us if you have time to get involved. Best Buddies International Jobs Program will launch in January 2024. Please contact us if you are interested in participating or finding out more. We will hold our Annual General Meeting on February 13th. We welcome members of ASK to register to attend in-person or receive a link to attend online. The workshop on Positive Behavior Support with Dr. Deirdre Kearney was a big success this month.

Our ACCESS interns presented their paintings and mosaics at the first ACCESS Art Exhibition at CancerSupport Switzerland. Here is a sample of some of the beautiful work they produced. World Autism Day Art Exhibition at the UN

We are delighted to be invited to showcase our ART Exhibition at the United Nations and celebrate World Autism Day on April 2nd. Attendance is by invitation only. Parent Education Series on Anxiety
